Division of Geriatrics
The division of geriatrics is one of the core sites from UCLA Multicampus program in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. The UCLA Medical Center is the University-owned teaching hospital for the UCLA School of Medicine. It comprises 668 inpatient medical/surgical beds, an emergency department, and ambulatory clinics that accommodate 420,000 patient visits per year. The Medical Center offers an extensive arrya of specialty and ancillary services. Specialized services for the elderly include:
- Multidiciplinary Geriatric Assessment Center and Ambulatory Primary Care
- Specialty Women's Clinic
- Geriatrics In-patien Continuity of Care and Consultation Service
- Rehabilitation Center of Beverly Hills Subacute Care Unit and Nursing Home
- Geropsychiatry In-patient Unit
- Geropsychiatry Consultation Service
- Community-based Nursing Home Care
Specific research programs based at the Center for Health Sciences include health promotion, women's health, epidemiology and treatment of osteoporosis, comprehensive geriatric assessment, epidemiology and treatment of alcohol-related problems in older persons, consequences of increased allostatic load, social influences on health, and health services delivery including managed care.
